Introduction
Welcome to the dr-lab at Chukyo University. Our lab is dedicated to pioneering research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and human-computer interaction. We are particularly focused on the innovative application of AI-driven methods to enhance robotic motion design and emotional expression, inspired by traditional Japanese performing arts like Joruri puppet theater. Our mission is to bridge the gap between technology and culture, creating robots capable of natural, expressive interactions that can be applied in various domains, from healthcare to entertainment.
Key Research Themes
Our research is centered around the following areas:
- AI and Robotics: Developing advanced algorithms for realistic and emotionally rich robotic motion, with a special focus on non-verbal communication.
- Human-Computer Interaction: Exploring how AI can enhance interactions between humans and robots, leveraging cultural insights to create more intuitive and comfortable experiences.
- Signal Processing and Numerical Simulation: Applying cutting-edge techniques to analyze and synthesize motion data for various applications, including real-time systems and character animation.
- Integration of Traditional Arts and Technology: Incorporating principles from traditional Japanese arts, such as the Jo-Ha-Kyu mechanism, to innovate in robotic interaction design.
Our lab strives to push the boundaries of what is possible with AI and robotics, with the ultimate goal of making technology more human-centered and culturally aware.
